Wes Crymble was an on-court basketball official in Manitoba for 31 years at all levels (high school, senior men’s and CIAU/CIS). He earned assignments in many national championships, two men’s, three women’s and 12 GPAC championships. He was selected to officiate in the WBL and IBA professional leagues when the Thunder and Cyclone played out of Winnipeg and was the KCAC/KPAC high school conference assignor for 36 years. In addition, he held many positions on the executive of MABO (Manitoba Association of Basketball Officials) and was an observer and evaluator for the USports Canada West Conference. In 2001, he received the CABO Wink Willox Award which is presented to an individual in recognition of outstanding contributions to basketball and basketball officiating. Furthermore, he recruited, trained and supervised many young officials over his years of dedicated service, and, in 2024, he was awarded a Special Recognition Award at the MABO annual general meeting. His calm demeanor and exemplary personal skills set him aside from others and allowed him to handle high-pressure games with ease.
