Tom Kendall is best known for his 16-year tenure as the Women’s Coach of the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Women (1979-1995) where he led the Wesmen to 11 GPAC championships and three CIAU/CIS National Championships, including a then North American record 88 game win streak. He was an 8-time GPAC Coach-of-the-Year and four-time National Coach-of-the-Year. He was enshrined into the Wesmen Ring of Honour in 2018, and his name is also attached to a yearly award handed out at the Wesmen Athletics Awards Night, going to the student-athlete with the highest GPA across all sports. In addition, he was President of the Manitoba Amateur Basketball Association/Basketball Manitoba, 1981-93 and he was a member of Basketball Canada’s Board of Directors 1981-1985 where he served as Vice President responsible for National team programs. He was an NCCP Technical and Theory Coaching Instructor 1985-2005 and also coached Team Manitoba to the 1986 Senior Women’s’ National Championship.
