It is with sadness that the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame and Basketball Manitoba share the news on the passing of MBHOF Member Doug Gresham on November 16, 2015.
A graduate of Daniel McIntyre Collegiate in 1946, Doug was a dominant player in junior and senior men's basketball leagues for the 10 years in which he played, except for a three-year stint in the U.S.A. from 1949 to 1952. Doug played most of his basketball in the senior league with the "Paulins". During his five years with the Paulins, Doug was a League All-Star in 1948, 1949, 1954, and 1955. He was a starter with the Paulins when they won the Canadian Senior Men's Championship and represented Canada at the World Championships in 1954. While playing in the U.S.A., he received a try-out invitation in 1952 with the St. Louis "Hawks" of the NBA.
Doug was inducted into the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame in 1985 in the Player's category.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gresham family.
