Terry Garrow, a native of Montreal, came to the University of Manitoba in 1984 after attending St. Pius X High School in Ottawa. For three consecutive years, 1986, 1987 and 1988, he was selected as a GPAC (Great Plains Athletic Conference) All-Star and in 1988, he was named a CIAU/CIS All-Canadian. In that season, he averaged 22.9 points and 5 assists and 5 rebounds per game. He was a three-time Wesmen Classic All-Star and the MVP in 1987.
He was a member of the Bisons team which captured a bronze medal at the CIAU/CIS National Championships in 1985. After completing his university career, he went on to play professionally with the Winnipeg Thunder of the World Basketball League. In years following, Terry played on a number of senior men's teams many of them being proudly Indigenous.
