Provincial High School Champions 1961-62, 1964-65, 1965-66 |
In the pre-classification era, where all Manitoba high schools played at the same level, the Lionettes, as they were then called, captured three provincial championships over a five year period. Coached by legendary basketball figures Ernie Gaudrea (1962) and Wayne Ruff (1965 & 1966), the girls dominated the province after winning the newly formed, but very competitive, Cloverleaf Conference.
In 1962 they defeated the defending champion Hamiota after having lost to them the previous year. In 1965 the Lions again defeated Hamiota in the while while in 1966 they defeated Miami.
