For 36 years Duane has been a true builder of basketball in the Swan River area and beyond. He  has established himself not only as a quality coach, but also as a promoter of basketball. His varsity boys’ teams have always been competitive, with Provincial AAA Championships in 1986, ’95, ’96, 2000 and 2001.

On an annual basis, Duane organized referee and coaching clinics to develop and promote the game. He invited senior and university teams to play exhibition games. He also hosted 5 Provincial AAA Championships. In addition, Duane served as a referee, working in senior men’s and high school provincial championships. More than 20 of his former players are now coaching basketball.
