In 1935, Jimmy was a founder of the Flin Flon Basketball Association
which operated a league for four men's and four women's teams. After
the war, the program expanded to include both intermediate men's and
women's teams and junior (high school age) boy's and girl's teams. For
eighteen years, Jimmy coached a men's and a boy's team.
Because of his efforts, Flin Flon basketball teams could
compete with best teams in Manitoba, in particular the female teams.
Between 1946 - 1960, the Legionettes (junior) and the Kopper Kweens
(high school) teams won thirteen provincial titles between them. The
coaches played for Jimmy.
