One of the founders of the St. Andrews Basketball Club, Doc remained in
the club for over twenty years, as an executive and a player. He also
helped organized and promote minor basketball teams in the "dirty
thirties" in the Y.M.C.A. League, particularly when he served as a
member of the Board of Governors of the Y.M.C.A.
In the '50's, Doc served as President of the Manitoba Amateur
Basketball Association and represented Manitoba to the Canadian Amateur
Basketball Association. He also helped stage and promote many Western
Canadian Men's Senior Finals and one Canadian Junior Men's Final.
