A graduate of Grant Park High School, Gail played her university basketball at the University of Manitoba (1974 - 1977) and at the University of Winnipeg (1977 - 1979). She was the Great Plains Athletic Conference All-Star in 1975, '76, '77, '78, '79. Gail was a Canadian University All-Star in 1978 and an All-Canadian in 1979.
Gail was a member of Canada's National Team from 1975 - 1980.
