A graduate of Windsor Park Collegiate, Darryl played his university basketball at the University of Manitoba. He was a member of the 1971 Junior and the 1976 Varsity U of M teams which won Canadian
Championships
As a varsity Bison, Darryl was named a First-Team All-Canadian in 1974 and 1975. At graduation Darryl, was the All-Time Leading Rebounder and second in All-Time Scoring. After university, Darryl was a member of the Nicolett Inn Senior Basketball team which won Canadian Senior Championships in 1979,
1980, and 1982.
