Clarence organized, coached, and managed the Blue Eagles girl's
basketball team throughout the 1930's, drawing on players as they
graduated from local high schools. He paid all the costs for equipment
and uniforms, Y.W.C.A. membership fees and shower privileges, and
practice gyms. Clarence even provided oranges and lemons at each game.
Each week, he handed out carfare to the players (these were Depression
years, and many players found the price of transportation a hardship).
