Alice started playing Basketball in 1931 at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate on the girls’ Junior Team, winning the City High School League. The next year, she led the DMCI Senior Girls’ team to the Senior City High School League championship. Continuing that success, she played with the Blue Eagles Junior team the following year, winning the City Junior League championship. She kept the championship streak going the next year when the Blue Eagles entered the Senior League, winning the League, the City and the Provincial titles.
Alice was always one of the top scorers, and she was also the top scorer when the Blue Eagles played the World Champion Edmonton Grads in an exhibition game. Her dedication to the game and her team showed when she regularly walked four miles from her home to the YWCA for practices and games – an inspiration to her teammates.
