A graduate of Dakota Collegiate, Ted played his first year of university basketball at Simon Fraser University and the next four at the University of Manitoba.
Ted was also a member of the Canadian National Team that represented Canada in 1971 at the Pan American Games, in 1972 at the Pre-Olympic Tournament in Germnay, and in 1975 and 1976 on a tour throughout the United States.
He was also a member of the St. Andrew Super Saints that won the Canadian Senior Men's Championships in 1972, 1975, and 1976. At the 1975 Championship Tournament, Ted was named Tournament MVP.
Ted was a member of Team Manitoba which won Gold Medals at the Western Canada Summer Games in 1975 and 1979.
