Mike started playing basketball in 1932 in the Sunday School League. He
continued to play competitive basketball until 1979. Throughout his
playing days, he was a great playmaker and deadly with a two-handed set
shot from the perimeter. Between 1945 and 1954, he was an impact player
with the University of Manitoba "Bisons", the Varsity "Grads", and the
"Paulins" who won the Canadian Senior Men's Championship and who place
4th in the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro in 1954.
