Jack started playing basketball in 1925 in the Y.M.C.A. Boy's Division. From the early 1930's thru 1942, he played in the senior league for the Winnipeg "Toilers", the University of Manitoba, and St. Andrews. A prolific scorer with an outstanding two-handed set shot, Jack was a key member of the St. Andrew's team that won six Provincial Championships from 1937 thru 1942 and Prairie Champions in 1939 and 1941.
