A graduate of Kelvin High School, Glen Torgerson (a.k.a. "Torgy") made his mark in Manitoba basketball during his years in the University of Manitoba Bisons and the St. Andrews Dunlops. During that time, he was instrumental in St. Andrews winning seven Provincial Championships and was a Senior Men's League All-Star twice. Prior to playing with St. Andrews, Glen played for four years with the Bisons at the University of Manitoba. He was a conference All-Star in 1960.
He was one of the best all-round athletes of his era, also starring as a quarterback for Science and Commerce in Intramural 6-Man football where he was selected an all-star every year. He was named the U. of M. Athlete-of-the-Year in 1958. In addition, he excelled in golf and hockey.
